Pedestrians must unite in the face of cyclist menace

• I AM writing to express my anger at the behaviour of cyclists. I work in Islington, and walk along Upper Street each day to reach my office. When crossing the road near Islington Green at 8.50am one morning, I was horrified to see a cyclist speed through the crossing, even though the light was red and the green man was showing.
He nearly collided with an elderly woman, who would have been struck had her daughter not warned her in time. The cyclist sped off in the direction of Angel Tube.
I am sick and tired of pedestrians being treated like inconveniences by cyclists. It is time to station police community support officers by busy junctions and warn cyclists who are breaking the law.
This has been tried in the centre of Oxford and has worked well. Perhaps pedestrians’ groups need to be formed to stand up for those using their own two feet. I would certainly be interested in getting involved in one.
