Maiden Lane demolition

• TO read Councillor Paul Braithwaite’s recent letter (December 17), one might think that there was no threat at all to the Maiden Lane estate.
Has he not read the council’s own document recently delivered to all the residents on the estate? This outlines Camden’s plans to demolish up to half the estate. It is this that the campaign Save All Our Homes is objecting to.
The councillor congratulates the architects and the council officers for their efforts in preparing to bulldoze up to 200 decent families out of their homes.
What is he thinking of? Save All Our Homes (www.maidenlaneestate.org) begs to differ over these congratulations.
The Maiden Lane Estate Management Board recently passed a unanimous vote of no confidence in the council’s “opinion survey” performed recently on this subject of demolition.
