A fine day!
AS if Westminster’s parking department had not been kept busy enough with bikers protesting at being hit with a new parking levy!
Add to this rows over unclear yellow lines, controversy over alleged target-setting for traffic wardens, alleged breaches of EU and local government rules over the activities of city council-led Partnership in Parking, and the fiasco over inadequate CCTV quality.
Now they have now decided, in their infinite wisdom, to try and claw yet more money from motorists, mostly visitors one would suspect, by issuing fines on Boxing Day for the ludicrous reason that it falls on a Saturday.
They should be ashamed of such an obvious attempt to fleece visitors to London on what should be a care-free public holiday for all. This is not parking regulation, nor is it traffic management. It is an attempt to con money out of people, pure and simple. It is abundantly clear after this latest attack on the travelling public that this council is interested solely in raising revenue through punishing and plundering motorists.
It is about time those who are being fleeced so transparently, both in cars and on bikes, stop sitting on their backsides accepting it so dutifully, and hold these people to account once and for all.
