Boris stalled at junction
• THERE was another serious accident at the junction of Holloway Road, Fieldway Crescent and Madras Place recently, but while people are being hurt and killed Mayor of London Boris Johnson and his Transport for London bureaucrats are wasting time and money writing gobbledygook replies about “reviewing the activities being undertaken across the business with the aim of streamlining and integrating processes to drive improvements in delivery”. What total and utter rubbish.
Any idiot can see what is needed – a repeater traffic light on Holloway Road and an extension of the yellow box junction with some enforcement measures like a camera. This won’t affect the timings of the junction or the “competing demands and priorities of all users, at both the local and strategic level”. It will just mean that when the lights turn red against traffic travelling north on Holloway Road, drivers will be able to see that they have turned red and will stop so they no longer mow down cyclists and pedestrians crossing the road because the lights from Madras Place and Fieldway Crescent have turned green. I urge the Mayor to intervene to put an end to this unacceptable stalling.
