Aussie bouquet for market

• FOR the past five years we have been coming to visit our children, who both work and live in the Camden area.
The first visit, in 2005, was a wonderful, eye-opening experience for us, as it was for my 80-year-old mother who was travelling with us. She is a huge fan of the markets and came back last year to enjoy them once again.
During these years we have noticed the changes that are taking place. During our first visit we witnessed a young girl getting hit by a taxi just before the lock bridge, so we are very pleased to see the lane reduction and the widening of the footpaths – two very positive moves – and great for the safety of locals and tourists. We were a bit worried that the burnt-out area was not being redeveloped – but no! It is better than before.
The new and improved Stables Markets are outstanding. A great mix of retro, cheap and top market clothing and other enticing goods on offer.
We also went to the first turning-on of the Christmas lights at MTV. It was a very well attended and joyful affair. Certainly a very good start. Something to be built on in future years. We hope it doesn’t become a competition. Sometimes simple is best.
We were also impressed with the improvement of street lighting on Camden High Street. We feel much safer when out enjoying the Camden night life.
We recommend a visit to Camden to everyone coming to London – a “must visit” destination.
