NHS bosses say they will cut community mental health team numbers by 40 per cent.
The teams visit patients at home and provide a crucial service for people suffering with severe illness such as acute depression or schizophrenia.
The proposals are outlined in a Camden and Islington Foundation Trust report titled Improving the Quality and Outcomes of Community Services.
It reads: “There can be savings by merging teams and therefore reduction in management and infrastructure.”
The announcement comes just three days after a public consultation on cost-saving plans to close down two Camden mental health hospitals ended.
The proposed changes will be debated tonight (Thursday) in Camden Town Hall from 7pm.
