‘True Arsenal fan’ Danny Fiszman loses his battle with cancer

TRIBUTES have been pouring in for Arsenal director Danny Fiszman, who has died at the age of 66 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Described as a “true Arsenal fan”, Mr Fiszman joined the Gunners’ board in 1992 and played an integral role in the club moving from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium. He died on Wednesday, just days after he sold his stake in the club to American billionaire Stan Kroenke.
Chairman Peter Hill-Wood told the club’s official website: “Danny Fiszman was a visionary director, a gentleman and a true Arsenal fan.
“We are all deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend Danny. His voice, wisdom and presence around the football club he so dearly loved will be sorely missed. Our thoughts at this time are with Danny’s wife Sally, family and friends.”
Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis echoed Mr Hill-Wood’s views, adding: “I am very sad. Danny was much loved at Arsenal Football Club, not just for his extraordinary vision and commitment driving our club forward, but because he was a respectful gentleman whose passion for Arsenal was at the heart of everything he did. We will miss him deeply.”
