REALITY was flipped on its head at Soho Parish School on Friday when a pupil switched places with the headteacher.
While 10-year-old Mercedes paced the corridors dispensing stickers for good work and offering constructive criticism to deserving youngsters, headteacher Rachel Earnshaw hurriedly tried to finish her story writing homework in time for class.
The role reversal took place to mark April Fool’s Day. Mercedes won the chance step into Ms Earhshaw’s shoes after entering a Red Nose Day raffle – one of several events the Great Windmill Street school has held in aid of Comic Relief.
As part of her work as headteacher, Mercedes gave a speech at school assembly. She said: “Being a headteacher is not as hard as it looks.”
