POLICE this week urged more victims of homophobic abuse to come forward after the conviction of a man who shouted insults at a gay couple.
Dean Orrow, 24, pleaded guilty to offences under the Public Order Act after harassing the couple with taunts about their sexuality.
He received a £100 fine, a six month community order, an electric tag, a 12 month restraining order, and a three month night time curfew.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Kevin Johansen said: “Homophobic abuse is not acceptable in this day and age and we take this type of crime seriously.”
Orrow was sentenced at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on February 24 for the offences which took place last July.
The victim and his partner were accosted after a visit to a kebab shop in Essex Road, Islington.
