PUPILS from New End Primary have won a national architecture award after redesigning their school building to make it more environmentally friendly.
Promising architects from Year 6 beat entries from across the country in a competition to create a blueprint for a new eco-friendly building at the school in Streatley Place, Hampstead.
They scooped the top accolade in two categories of the challenge organised by architecture organisation Open-City as part of its education programme.
Njomeza Blakcori, Teresa Mendes Missau, and Maggie Law won a prize for their analysis while Chloe Stokes, Nikta Sabouri and Erin Robins won best class response.
Fiona Bailey, founding Director of Open-City, said: “The quality and diversity of the entries is very impressive, and it is fantastic to see children engaging so imaginatively and enthusiastically with such an important topic.”
