CHILDREN from George Eliot Junior School in St John’s Wood marked World Book Day this week by dressing up as literary characters.
Prizes were awarded to those in the most imaginative outfits while youngsters also used their creative skills to design bookmarks.
George Eliot, which amalgamated with its infants school in January, is set to benefit from the Building Schools for the Future programme. New premises will be built on the southern end of the Marlborough Hill site, and will provide state-of-the-art educational facilities.
George Eliot Infant School was ranked in the top 100 schools in the country for outstanding progress and SATs results, and will be featured in an Ofsted report this spring as the only London school rated outstanding in English.
