A NEW in-house estate maintenance team has been launched by Homes for Islington (HFI) in response to demands from tenants fed up with the performance of private contractors.
The new team will adopt a far more thorough and long term approach, promised its manager Jason Grieve.
He said: “You could find that with a contractor, they may only carry out what was on the job ticket, no matter what the underlying problem was.
“With our team, we investigate why the problem keeps appearing in the same spot and solve the underlying problem first.”
The team will look after communal areas on HFI estates. It is part of a trend towards in-house provision and follows the end of outsourcing of Town Hall cleaning services.
