Bright Sparks project praised for recycling efforts
Published: 4th February, 2011
TOWN Hall leader Catherine West this week hailed Islington’s Bright Sparks project, which recycles old electrical goods.
Residents are donating a tonne of old kettles, radios, CD players and the like to Bright Sparks at collection points throughout the borough.
Trainees and volunteers repair and re-sell the goods from the project’s shop in Seven Sisters Road, opposite Finsbury Park station.
Councillor West said: “There’s a wonderful team working hard to repair and re-use everything from toasters to TVs. It’s also keeping tonnes of usable goods out of rubbish bins – saving on landfill bills and helping the environment.”
Bright Sparks, the first project of its kind in London, was set up in June. The shop is open Tuesday to Saturday from 12.30pm to 5.30pm, and until 7pm on Thursdays. To contact it call 020 7561 5515 or email shop@brightsparksonline.com.
