16,336 and counting - ZSL annual stocktake

Not many people would enjoy getting up close and personal with a tarantula like handler Kate Pearce (pictured top).
But it’s all part of the job for staff at London Zoo, who have been counting everything from creepy crawlies to big cats as part of their yearly audit of animals.
At last count there were 16,336, including 726 species, at the famous Regent’s Park attraction.
Let’s hope they haven’t lost any of this hairy little fellow’s chums.
