HAS the world’s dumbest criminal struck in Primrose Hill?
Giant sooty handprints can be seen plastered all the way across the outside of a home that was broken into in Chalcot Square.
Leaving his gloves at home, the bungling cat burglar crept across the narrow ledge to the window where further prints are visible.
The thief is alleged to have left with a £1,000 laptop during the night raid.
Detectives matched the prints following the incident two weeks ago and recovered resident Gregg Masuak’s laptop. Writer Mr Masuak, who has lived in the flat for two years, said: “It would seem no human could cling on to that ledge. It is the kind of dangerous move you’d only do if you knew for sure the Crown jewels were behind that window. The laptop was not visible from the street.”
Mr Masuak was asleep in the next room when the burglary took place.
He added: “Chalcot Square is a high-end location and they probably thought everyone living there was a wealthy snob with loads of stuff to grab. I’m known by some as ‘the man writing at the window’.”
