BIG-HEARTED publican Pat Logue praised his regulars after they helped raise a whopping £1,162 for the New Journal’s hamper appeal this week.

The boss (pictured holding the cheque) at the Sheephaven Bay in Mornington Street, Camden Town, has an unrivalled record for raising money for our annual appeal with the bar’s pub quiz. This year’s event was won by a team called the Mornington Mafia on Tuesday night.

Mr Logue said: “For a back-street pub to raise this amount is amazing. You look around here and these are the best of people. They will help spread good will.”

Raffle prizes included £20 notes and a bottle of Jameson whiskey – and even the quiz losers walked off happy after enjoying free food and (in the case of the team who came bottom) a free round of drinks.

The pub became part of the Camden Fringe theatre festival for the first time earlier this year, an association that is expected to continue in 2011.

And Mr Logue will soon be introducing a loyalty card scheme to give customers 10 per cent off all drinks and 20 per cent off all food for the months of January and February.
