WEST End musical star Lee Mead joined young gospel singers from Maria Fidelis Convent School to switch on the Christmas lights at University College Hospital.
Mr Mead, who is appearing in the hit musical Wicked after winning the title role of Joseph in the BBC show Any Dream Will Do, returned to the hospital following the recent birth of his daughter, Betsy.
The Maria Fidelis Convent choir – winners of the 2010 BBC Songs of Praise choir competition – raised the roof with their soulful gospel music.
Departments and staff from across UCLH representing clinical services, research, charities, facilities, arts and archives, spoke to patients at the “interactive” display stands.
UCLH chairman Richard Murley said: “Members of staff have made such an effort with their stalls and it is wonderful that they are able to showcase all they are doing for patients locally and nationally.”
