WIKILEAKS founder Julian Assange – who went to ground after the publication of confidential US cables – was hiding in Paddington, it was revealed on Tuesday.
Vaughan Smith, founder of the journalism centre The Frontline Club, based in Norfolk Place, said: “I can confirm that Mr Assange has spent much of the last several months working from our facilities at the Frontline Club.” He added: “I am suspicious of the personal charges that have been made against Mr Assange and hope that this will be properly resolved by the courts.”
On Tuesday Mr Assange, 39, was denied bail when he appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court ahead of full extradition proceedings. Potentially he faces charges of rape and sexual molestation if extradited to Sweden.
He is due back in court on Tuesday December 14.
