CAMDEN Council is set to spend more than £100,000 publishing a quarterly newspaper.
Labour councillors fulfilled an election pledge to get rid of Your Camden, the council magazine.
But they are not giving up completely on a regular despatch to residents and they are working on the idea of a quarterly publication for residents with council news.
The frequency is the maximum set to be allowed by orders due to be enforced by Eric Pickles, the Conservative local government minster who has pledged to stop council spending money on newspapers and magazines that residents don’t want.
Lib Dem leader Councillor Keith Moffitt said: “I don’t have a problem with the council having a publication as long as it is not taking advertising away from local in newspapers. But Labour Camden made a big thing about how it was stopping it and now it is going back on that. They are not confident in their own decisions.”
