Prize blooms – Hampstead’s best at Hampstead Horticultural Society Annual Awards

GARDENERS gathered at Burgh House in Hampstead on Sunday to reap the rewards for beating the weather to grow an array of vibrant flowers, fruits and vegetables.
Among the big winners at the Hampstead Horticultural Society Annual Awards was Gospel Oak’s Marysa Norris, who picked up five accolades, including the Dobbs Seat and the Cyril Gill Picture for gaining the most points in the seasonal shows.
Mayor of Camden Councillor Jonathan Simpson and Cllr Kirsty Roberts praised the borough’s hard-working horticulturists as they handed out the awards.
Other big winners were Kentish Town’s Carol Bateman, who won four awards including the Dartnell Trophy, and Valerie Hills, who won the Camden Garden Centre Cup. Elizabeth Bristow also scooped a major award when she was presented with the the Banksia Medal for most points in the horticulture category.
