A CAMDEN Town pub has lost its bid to sell alcohol until 2am seven nights a week.

The application from the Blackheart pub, which replaced the former Camden Tup in Greenland Place, sparked fierce opposition from neighbours, who said they were already “plagued by unruly customers”.

A petition signed by 12 residents was submitted to the Town Hall and police requested the application be refused.

But a Camden licensing panel approved a one-hour extension to the licence at weekends, allowing the bar to serve until 1am. Blackheart bosses agreed to install CCTV and limit the number of people in the smoking area.

Will McBean, operations manager for the Blackheart, said: “The pub is a well-run and responsible establishment that is there for the benefit of locals.”
