THERE was song, drama and a superb saxophone solo at Torriano Junior School on Thursday night as children celebrated the launch of their “Gatehouse” building.
The Kentish Town primary school has been saving up for the two-storey annexe – with two classrooms, an office and an impressive performance hall – for 20 years. Labour MP Frank Dobson compared the £450,000 building to the time machine in Dr Who. He said: “It’s got a kind of Tardis feel to it. When you step inside it feels much bigger than you expected.”
The building was designed by Edward Cullinan architects from and built by construction firm Hilife.
