A CHECKOUT supervisor from Camden Town has seen first-hand how money raised for Comic Relief is spent in Africa.
Tausif Daubar, who works at Sainsbury’s in Camden Road, visited impoverished parts of Uganda with colleagues from across the country to witness projects funded by the charity – which organises the biennial Red Nose Days.
The trip, which Mr Daubar described as “eye-opening”, included visits to hospitals, schools and children’s homes, as well as individual homes benefiting from fundraising in the UK.
The 22-year-old was chosen for the expedition after raising one of the highest sums for the charity among his colleagues at the supermarket chain.
He said: “The people in Africa are very friendly and welcoming everywhere you go, and I can sincerely say the money is being distributed and really well spent – efficiently, and to the neediest. It changes the lives of not just individuals, but whole communities.”
