TWO men who stabbed a teenager to death and repeatedly drove a car over his body have both been jailed for 19 years.
Julian Edwards and Mustafa Demirtas were convicted of killing 19-year-old Michael McCarthy in a row over a drugs deal.
Edwards of Aubert Park, Highbury, and Demirtas of Errol Street, Finsbury, set upon their victim in a revenge attack after he “ripped them off”, the Old Bailey was told.
Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector John Macdonald said: “This was a revenge attack carried out in cold blood by two men who have shown no remorse for their actions.
“This case illustrates how getting involved in drugs can lead directly to serious violence and murder.”
The pair, both 21, attacked Mr McCarthy as he walked his dog near his home in Yoakley Road, Stoke Newington.
The court heard how the teenager lived in fear of his life after cheating Edwards and Demirtas in a drugs deal.
They pulled up in a car and confronted him before Edwards repeatedly stabbed him.
Andrew Edis QC, prosecuting, said jurors were shown CCTV footage of their car “going up and down over the body” after the killing.
Edwards and Demirtas were sentenced at the Old Bailey last Thursday for the killing, which took place in November, 2009.
