DISAPPOINTED organisers of Islington’s cancelled winter festival have vowed to bounce back with a bigger, better event next year.
The five-week-long party was to have been staged at Islington Green through December and into January – complete with ice rink, funfair and Christmas market.
But event firm Anything is Possible scrapped its plans after the main financial backer pulled out.
Company director Michael Chilokou said: “We were all absolutely gutted. We put a lot of work into it and got a lot of support from the council, businesses and residents.
“We’re going to take stock and come back stronger next year. Anything is still possible. Just because you’ve had a setback doesn’t change that.”
Meanwhile, business group Angel Aim, which backed the festival, has promised: “We will do our utmost to organise something festive this year.
“We want to give businesses at the Angel every opportunity to fight the current economic difficulties and thrive.”
