Campaigning for ‘secret garden’ at Highbury Park
Published: 8 October, 2010
CAMPAIGNERS are expected to attend an Islington Council planning committee on Monday that will decide the fate of a “secret garden” at the former National Children’s Home site at Highbury Park.
Residents in the area have called for the garden to be protected as part of a housing scheme. The committee had defered a decision from last month to allow developers the opportunity to provide more affordable housing and also to investigate whether it is possible to retain the garden.
The meeting at Islington Town Hall begins at 7.30pm.
• Islington Leaseholders Association will meet next Wednesday, October 13 at Islington Town Hall from 7pm to 9pm. Chairman Brian Potter will be inviting an independent surveyor to give a report.
