Over the rainbow – Student’s ace design for Rainbows4Children

TWO sixth-formers at Hampstead School have won national acclaim for their design skills.
Asli Champion’s new logo for children’s charity Rainbows4Children brought £1,000 for himself and £10,000 for the West Hampstead school.
The 16-year-old beat 200 students with his design of a child sliding down a rainbow. It will be used as the charity’s logo and painted on the outside of schools in Africa. The 16-year-old said: “I didn’t find out about the competition until just before the deadline so I didn’t think I’d left myself enough time. It was a nice surprise.”
The £10,000 will be spent on playground improvements and on a school radio station.
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Andre Augusto was named as one of 23 finalists in the Fashion Futures 2 project, run by creative charity Fashion Awareness Direct. He was chosen from 130 budding fashion designers following a 10-week series of workshops with design professionals. Andre has been offered a two-week placement with high-street fashion chain River Island.
