THE “limbs” of a giant piece of public art were lowered into place in a Mayfair park this week in preparation for a grand unveiling on Monday.

The four-metre-high bronze sculpture by American artist Jedd Novatt is part of Westminster Council’s City of Sculpture festival, sponsored by property group Grosvenor, which features more than 60 pieces across the West End.

Entitled “Chaos Mundaka”, the work will bestride the piazza of Brown Hart Gardens in Duke Street.

Mr Novatt said: “The installation of Chaos Mundaka in Brown Hart Gardens will be a dynamic juxtaposition of contemporary sculpture and classical architecture in an important central London context.”

Councillor Robert Davis, Westminster City Council’s deputy leader, said: “This London event will further enhance Westminster’s reputation as the home of some of the world’s most famous art, which can be viewed not only in our vast array of galleries but also on our streets.”
