REVUE Bar in Soho saw its application to extend opening hours turned down yesterday (Thursday).
The venue in Tisbury Court had sought to extend its hours from midnight to 1am Sunday to Thursday and 1am to 2am Friday to Saturday.
Police and The Soho Society had objected.
Philip Doyle, for applicant Adam Karpinski, said the extension would not result in increased noise and disturbance as alcohol was not served. At City Hall he said: “It is unfair to lay the blame for late-night noise and disturbance at this premises.”
Planning committee chairman Alan Bradley said the bar was in the “West End Stress Area”, identified by police as one with a high level of crime and disorder. Police warned that, while there was no suggestion that the club was associated with crime, allowing it extended opening could exacerbate problems.
