Bathroom blues
Published: 17 September, 2010
• HOMES for Islington – the council’s housing agency – has denied me a decent new bathroom during the recent redevelopment of Centurion Close estate, off Caledonian Road.
All my immediate neighbours appear to have had new bathrooms, including two who have only recently moved in. I’ve lived here for 10 years.
Instead of providing me with a new bathroom, they decided instead to repair the current one in May. In doing so they broke my bath and sink and blocked my toilet pan with plaster. They then plastered over defective plaster on a damp wall in my bedroom. I’m an asthmatic with heart trouble and all this work made me ill.
Just when I thought nothing else could happen, I was flooded out by contractors working in the flat above. Water ruined my wooden floor and decorations. No compensation or even apology was offered.
