HARROWING CCTV footage has captured the moment a pensioner was threatened with a broken bottle as he made his way home with shopping.

The unnamed 84-year-old, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, was pushed over and robbed during the terrifying morning attack that took place in June as he entered the stairwell of his Oxenholme tower block home in Harrington Square, Somers Town.

The victim’s identity has been hidden to save him further distress, but in unpixelated shots the terror on the elderly man’s face, as the suspect jabs a bottle towards him, is unmistakable.

Last month at Blackfriars Crown Court, Ali Ismail, 32, admitted he had robbed the pensioner to fund his crack-cocaine habit.

He was sentenced to four years in prison and described as “preying” on a “vulnerable man” by police. Ismail was caught after police saw him on CCTV and immediately sent out details of his appearance. He was found with the victim’s Freedom Pass under the sole of his shoe.
