A “POPULAR and talented” graphic design student who was found dead by his housemates took his own life, an inquest heard.

Adam Laucht, 22, was studying at Chelsea College London when he was found hanging from the bannister of his student flat in Northchurch Road, De Beauvoir Town, on May 29.

St Pancras Coroner’s Court heard that his housemates had been out at a party and returned home at around 12.30am, when they found Mr Laucht.

When police arrived at the property they found a laptop displaying a Wikipedia page dedicated to suicide methods. Mr Laucht, who was originally from Birmingham, had a talent for traditional book binding, film and photography. Family members described him as “intensely creative, talented and empathetic” and said they were devastated and shocked.

Coroner Dr Andrew Reid, recording a verdict of suicide, said: “Knowing he would be alone for some time as his housemates were elsewhere, I am sure he intended to end his own life, however impulsive the decision might have been.”
