FITNESS guru Nicci Roscoe was building a  successful career in tele­vision when her speech began to slur.

The former ITV and Sky presenter was told to put it down to stress.

Then, in 2001, she collapsed in a Hampstead supermarket with a burning sensation in the left side of her head.

She lay in agony on the floor for 20 minutes.

Nicci said: “It was  like an electrical thunderstorm in my brain.

The bright lights became like torches in my eyes, my tongue swelled and when I went to speak, the words wouldn’t come out.”

Nicci, who lives in Hampstead, had an operation to remove what doctors said was a life-threatening brain meninoma tumour – but the surgery did not stop the pain.

She said: “I have six bolts and three plates in my head. One side is cool, but the other can be burning.”

Now 49, she says she has found a way of “getting through the day” by harnessing the power of positive thinking – and she wants to let everyone in  Camden in on her secret at a series of weekly events at Hampstead Town Hall.

“There’s going to be a lot of drums and singing and we will be using rainsticks,” said Nicci.

“We will be removing people’s emotional blocks and helping them empower themselves. It’s called ‘power meditation’ – the power of the mind and not just the body.”

“A lot of people from Camden and Belsize Park and Hamp­stead will be coming and I hope I can make them feel better.”

She has harnessed the powers of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), a form of psychotherapy, which she says can help people cope with pain and emotional distress.

Nicci has a Life Coaching Diploma and is a qualified Master NLP Practitioner.

She trained with hypnotist and self-improvement author Paul McKenna.

“I’m still dreaming of having my lifestyle television programme,” she added.

The sessions cost £10 and are being held on Monday nights at Hampstead Town Hall from September 13 until at least January.
