A Harley Street clinic claiming to sell a cure for impotence has been shut down following a sting operation.

Trading standards officers received more than 100 complaints about the clinic from customers who said they had been sold the treatment. They claimed the clinic’s sales pitch was aggressive, and that they had been misled over the £3,000 price. They said that when they asked about a “money-back guarantee”, it was refused.

Three undercover trading standards officers from Westminster City Council visited the clinic, posing as members of the public seeking treatment.

Sue Jones, head of trading standards at Westminster Council, said: “While people might think this is all rather amusing, some of these people would have been very vulnerable  and this company was making money hand over fist selling something that was essentially a fob.

“Residents handed over thousands of pounds and all they got was a nasal spray.”
