Snow joke on untreated surfaces
• CAN someone please explain why Camden Council “hibernates” at the first sign of snow?
Maybe its staff cannot get to work due to the road/pavement conditions; it’s not as though they were taken by surprise – the adverse weather conditions were forecast well in advance.
Pavements, roads, housing estates become death traps completely ignored by Camden. Residents are left to the mercy of these untreated surfaces.
Not only does its failure to treat these areas make life dangerous for pedestrians it also impedes the work of the emergency services, compromising the health and safety of all.
Camden is quick enough to hold out its hands for our community charges, and even quicker at getting rid of our caretakers who, until now, have helped maintain estates’ communal areas by spreading the salt.
Camden are going backwards in time rather than forwards.

Where's the grit?
Submitted by Crow on Thu, 2010-01-07 00:19.I also live near the Denton estate and can confirm that Malden Road and Prince of Wales Road have not been gritted. At the time of writing (Wednesday 11pm), i am watching buses and cars crawling past at about ten miles per hour, the road surface is like an ice rink. Malden Road is one of the roads the council considers important enough to warrant treatment, yet nothing has been done. Similarly, none of the pavements have been treated, and i, like many others, have had plenty of Torvill and Dean moments.
Like the previous poster has stated, Camden has had plenty of warning of the impending freeze, so where are the gritting lorries?!
SORT IT OUT CAMDEN.
