Temporary classrooms for Quintin Kynaston School ahead of super campus

BUILDERS are expected to be given the green light to erect temporary classrooms at a St John’s Wood secondary school.
Last night (Thursday) Westminster City Council’s planning committee were poised to approve plans to build six classrooms on what is now the teachers’ car park at Quintin Kynaston School while it goes through a multi-million pound transformation.
Pupils will be taught in the classrooms for up to three years, while builders set about demolishing much of the current site to make way for a new super campus of four schools.
The classrooms should be in place for the start of the new school year.
There have been a number of formal objections from residents, who fear the structure will be unsightly, and say work has already started prematurely.
The report from Westminster’s planning department states: “Despite the objections received the proposed temporary building and associated alterations with parking below is considered acceptable in design, amenity, and transportation terms…”
