SIZZLING samba dancers and rhythmical Brazilian music were just some of the attractions at the Queen’s Crescent Summer Festival on Saturday.
Revellers were greeted by some scorching moves from Notting Hill Carnival dancers Paraiso do Samba as they turned out in force to enjoy a fantastic selection of visual arts, cultural foods, music and dance.
Organised by the Queen’s Crescent Community Association (QCCA), the event successfully showcased the vibrant, creative and diverse talents in the area.
Mayor Jonathan Simpson opened the festival by releasing balloons with wishes from local children attached to them, including more jobs, more youth work facilities and “no gang fights”.
There was also the launch of the new Bike Loan Scheme, which allows members of the community centre to borrow bikes for free.
Chairman of the QCCA board of directors Mick Farrant was delighted with how the day turned out. “Everyone came together and really enjoyed themselves. The staff all worked extremely hard and did a great job too.”
