PLANS to install a 10 metre-high mobile phone mast at a Maida Vale beauty spot have been blasted as “disgusting” by traders.
The proposed site for O2 and Vodafone’s mast is near the public garden between Elgin Avenue and the junction with Lauderdale Road.
Business owners now say they will fight the application.
Bon Appetit deli owner Cyrous Darian said: “I think it is disgusting to put the mast right in the middle of the residential area – it is scientifically proven to cause lots of different health problems.”
The mobile phone companies said there was no evidence of any health risks of mobile phone masts.
