MORE than 500 people attended “Irish Day” in Maida Hill on Sunday.
The summer event was opened by writer and artist Patrick Maguire, one of the “Maguire Seven” who was wrongly convicted, aged 16, for IRA bombings in 1974.
Musicians David White, Rosemary Delaney and performers from the Murphy Diggins School of Dance entertained the crowds. One of the organisers, Liz Thorpe-Tracey, said: “We’re extremely grateful to our local sponsors who made the event possible.”
The Prince of Wales pub, Westway Estate Agents, St Josephs RC primary school, Harrow Road Neighbourhood Partnership and WECH contributed.
