Ballet breakthrough – Phoebe Armstrong wins top role

A SCHOOLGIRL is one step closer to her dream of becoming a professional dancer after winning a part with one of the UK’s top ballet companies.
Eight-year-old Phoebe Armstrong, of Mornington Terrace, Camden Town, has been dancing since the age of three. Now all her hard work has paid off as she has been chosen to perform in the English Youth Ballet’s production of Coppelia.
The youngest dancer in the ballet, Phoebe, who trains at Marylebone Ballet School, has been fitting in rehearsals around her normal lessons at Christchurch School in Regent’s Park. She has been travelling to Nottingham, where the production will be staged at the Theatre Royal on July 30 and 31.
Her mother, Hani Armstrong, said: “The performance itself will take place in the school holidays but there have been a few days when she’s had to leave a bit early, which she’s been quite happy about.
“We’re not sure what the future holds for her but she’s just thrilled to be involved.”
