FORGET the Sound of Music, rehearsals are in full swing for the Torriano Centenary musical.
To mark the 100th year of Torriano Junior school, Year Six leavers are singing their way into secondary school with a brand new show. They have collaborated with husband and wife team Gitika Partington and Siggy Seymour from Camden School for Girls primary school’s outreach programme, to produce a celebratory time-travelling extravaganza.
In the musical the pupils are living in 2910 and travel back in time to when the school was opened in 1910. They then move through various eras and musical rehearsals in those times, until they arrive in the present day for the finale of the musical.
Ms Partington said the children “are excited as it’s written especially for them and they had input into it”. She added: “It’s been lovely, they have all been really enthusiastic.” The musical will be performed for parents and friends at 2pm and 6pm on Monday, July 19.
