PEACE protesters have been told to disband their Parliament Square campsite after a high court judge ruled they were trespassing.
The eviction has been criticised as anti-democratic by Green Party London Assembly member Jenny Jones. Since May Parliament Square has been home to about 40 tents in what supporters called a “democracy village”.
London mayor Boris Johnson brought the action, saying the camp caused “considerable damage” and added that he was “pleased” with the ruling.
Ms Jones said: “I am disappointed the mayor’s case was successful. The lack of police presence showed that the protesters were not causing a problem.”
The group is expected to appeal and have until today (Friday) to leave.
