PULP frontman Jarvis Cocker was serenaded on the merits of curvy women, while Amy Winehouse shocked nobody by popping up at trendy Proud Camden.
The free beer flowed and Camden’s hipsters rubbed shoulders with musicians, popular TV presenters and actors at Proud’s extravagant birthday celebrations on Wednesday. The venue was celebrating its second year in Camden Market’s horse hospital building.
Jarvis, who hosted the event, spent most of the evening chatting with fans at the venue’s new outdoor bar. He paid particular attention to troubadour Joseph Strouzer who serenaded him with The Ballad of the Big Beautiful Woman.
“I like it, especially how it turned out in the end – of course, you won’t ever get any air-time,” he warned Strouzer.
Later Winehouse hopped up onstage during Professor Green’s headline set, joining the backing singers during new single Just be Good to Green.
Proud Camden owner Alex Proud said: “It was great to see her so at ease with her fans and friends.”
