Hangover?
Published: 17 June, 2010
• I AND my neighbours are appalled at the imminent felling of eight semi-mature established trees (mainly plane) in St Giles High Street.
The proposal is also to replace them with only a quarter of the previous number of trees.
The purpose, in reality, to benefit a predominantly commercial development on the north side of St Giles.
I hope this is a hangover from the old Conservative-Liberal administration and that the new Labour control will cancel the felling.

Trees in St Giles
Submitted by fitzrovianews on Fri, 2010-06-18 01:52.Well done Robert for raising this. I certainly hope the tree felling does not happen. Another example of trees in the south of the borough being abused. Commercial interests led to the installation of fairy lights in Fitzrovia trees which were nailed on with a stable gun. Luckily local people had them removed. Trees have also been pruned in the late spring leaving them bare in the summer months http://news.fitzrovia.org.uk/category/trees/
