Roof terrace barbecue linked to housing block blaze in Kings Gardens complex, Quex Road

AROUND 60 people were evacuated from their homes when firefighters tackled a blaze in a flat in West Hampstead on Friday morning.
The fire is believed to have started after a barbecue that had been left smouldering on a roof terrace set alight to the flat in the Kings Gardens complex in Quex Road. Six fire engines and around 30 firefighters attended and the on-site manager of the complex said around two thirds of the five-roomed, fifth floor flat where the fire started had been damaged. There was also some damage to the flats below due to the amount of water used by the fire crews.
No one was injured.
The London Fire Brigade said: “The cause of the blaze is now under investigation.”
