Sports kids in a tizz – Mornington Crescent Gym offers new sports to youngsters
Published: 10 June 2010
TIZZBALL was just one of the new sports on offer to young people at the newly refurbished Mornington Crescent Gym over the weekend.
Played by throwing a ball into a 50cm disc with flashing lights and vibrating sensors, it was played at the Arlington Road fitness centre along with the more traditional activities of dance and basketball.
Around 75 youngsters got involved in the sports, offered as part of the council’s COO-L scheme, which gives £15 to school pupils in Years 9 to 11 who receive free school meals, have disabilities or special educational needs, to spend on a range of activities.
Councillor Tulip Siddiq said: “It was also a great chance to show off our newly refurbished Mornington Crescent Gym.”
