Published: 9 December, 2010
WORK by celebrated anti-war poet Adrian Mitchell will be read at a benefit event for the Stop the War Coalition at St Giles-in-the-Fields Church near Covent Garden. Adrian, who lived in Dartmouth Park, was a British beat poet and lifelong activist whose love of jazz influenced his writing. He died in December 2008.
A cast including Adrian’s wife, actor Celia Hewitt, and his daughter, actor and singer Sasha Mitchell, as well as Dartmouth Park-based actor Roger Lloyd Pack, will perform in Adrian Mitchell: A Celebration in Words and Music.
Throughout his life Adrian continuously adapted his most famous poem To Whom It May Concern – a protest poem about the Vietnam War – to express his opposition to new wars in the Middle East.
