Jazz diva extraordinaire Deborah Brown is opening the Global Music Foundation’s Easter Jazz Festival tomorrow (Friday), at the Kings Place arts venue in King’s Cross where she’s singing Great American Songbook.

Charlie Parker and Betty Carter are her favourite jazz musicians. So it’s not surprising she’s the queen of scat.

There’s wide variety in the Easter Jazz Festival.

On Saturday afternoon, pianist Jason Rebello is inviting music lovers of all ages to participate in a live programme of interactive delights and surprises.

Saturday evening, there’s a performance of alto-player Peter King’s suite Janus inspired by Bartok’s fourth string quartet.

Sunday evening has a triple bill of pianists, Frank Harrison, Kit Downes and Bruce Barth.

And there’s free “Samba for Everyone” afternoon dance sessions so get out those dancing shoes.
