IT seems London’s parking controls have irked Wretch 32.

He told me: “I’m not feeling this parking permit, I can’t park anywhere in London without getting a fine and I think it’s a big money spin, it’s not there for what they first introduced it for so I’ll probably abolish that law and my fines.”

The rapper also revealed he was drawn to sample The Stone Roses’ single Fools Gold for his hit Unorthodox because it reminded him of football, telling me: “I thought the Stone Roses sample was a great riff and really wanted to make a British rap sounding record so I thought it’d be good to get a sample. We weren’t sure if we were going to be able to get it cleared at first... I remember being younger it kind of reminds me of playing football, I don’t know if it was on an advert or something. Yeah it’s like a football riff so that’s what drew my attention to it.” I wonder what the indie kids I grew up with would think...
