The Kings Place 2011 Festival continues apace over the next three days.

Peter Millican, chief executive of the King’s Cross arts venue, says the festival is again endeavouring to provide “a rich cultural smorgasbord” through the formula of 100 concerts packed into only four days.

Magical characters and fantastical animals are brought to life in Mozart with Puppets performed three times daily over the next three days by the Little Angel Theatre and members of Aurora Orchestra.

Tomorrow’s (Friday) highlights include juxtaposition of Baroque masterpieces with pieces by contemporary composers inspired by Baroque masters and performances of Mozart, CPE Bach and Haydn by young instrumentalists on the apprenticeship scheme run by the Orchestra of the Age of the Enlightenment (OAE).

Then, in the evening, Chiptunes brings the chance to enjoy the sounds of eight-bit Game Boy technology and the beeps and buzzes of Pacman now so popular on the dance floor.

Saturday features Children’s Corner whereby instrumentalists take audiences on musical journeys into the worlds of Mother Goose, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Ronald Dahl’s Dirty Beasts and other stories.

The Tuba Bears Picnic involves 15 different brass instruments playing well-known pieces of music interwoven with a text by poet Ian McMillan.

Sunday has two Tots workshop/concerts for two- to three-year-olds led by OAE instrumentalists; three gigs by fine jazz musicians, Burton Bradstock, John Etheridge and MooV; and works of composers who inspired Benjamin Britten.

There are also free concerts, gigs and performances in Kings Place foyer throughout.
